Let’s Tee On!

February 14th, 2009

I like casual wear very much and I am pretty much a casual wear kind of person – you know, jeans, t-shirts and sneakers. I owned about 25 t-shirts from plain coloured ones to sports tees to rock and roll tees (you know, the ones with skulls or Guns & Roses logos). I like them both long sleeves and short, any colours especially black and olive green; all except for yellow. Let’s talk about t-shirt, or tees. Recently, I saw a really awesome t-shirt:

I am still trying a way to get this tee so if anyone knows where I can get this tee, please share! 🙂

The Swimming Oranges and the Floating Bananas

February 10th, 2009

The last day of Chinese New Year (its called Chap Goh Meh in Hokkien – a Chinese dialect) is also known as the Chinese Valentine’s Day. For most Malaysian Chinese, they knew well of this certain ritual that happens every year on this day. Originated from Penang, Malaysia, this interesting ritual involves tossing tangerine/mandarin oranges or bananas by the singles into the pond or sea or river or any place with water in hope that their future partner will pick up their fruits.

And this year in Malaysia, it was the most happening event for the single men and women in more than 3 places in the state of Selangor itself.
Yes, they literally throw the tangerines and bananas into the pond. Like this:

See how happy they are when they threw the oranges.

It’s a piece of cake!

February 10th, 2009

I love cakes once awhile and my significant other has the ability to make delicious cakes. She love the whisking, the measuring and the mixing but today she told me she hated cutting the cakes sometimes. I knew why she had said so, she dropped a piece of cake on the table while transferring it to the plate.

So wanting to motivate her, I searched online and I found the solution to cutting a piece of cake. Presenting the “Piece of Cake” tool!

The Worst Escape

February 8th, 2009

Have you watched Escape From Alcatraz before? You know, Clint Eastwood and his cell-made floats that he used to swim across to the mainland. That is smart. Then do you remember watching “Shawshank Redemption” where Tim Robbins dug a hole behind a big poster in his cell for 18 years and crawled 500 yards of stinky sewer to his freedom? That’s dirty but very smart too.

Cute Little Mischief makers

February 6th, 2009

I know people worry that kids mimic what they see on the television. All that running, jumping and climbing trees… no wait, I meant all that fighting, punching and acting too grownup. I somehow inserted the wrong description in there.

Point is, doesn’t it sometimes seem like TV imitates life? Or at least is inspired by the weird and wonderful things that kids do?

Take the old, old show called Tom and Jerry for instance. A cat and mouse trying to outdo each other, always up to mischief. Why, that describes real-life naughty kids quite perfectly.

Many will empathize when they see these examples. You’ve done this once or your kids are always pulling such pranks. Kind of like waiting until you are on the phone to start the “I saw this toy first” tug-of-war.

Here’s probably how someone got the idea for extreme makeovers.

Heck yes, this is the Jedi you are looking for!!

If you are not a Star Wars fan, you might want to file this bit of information under “It’s a crazy world”.

But hang on, maybe some of the readers are avid fans? You’ve seen all the movies, collected most of the figurines and even played the Lego game. Or maybe you are not a such a fan per say… you just love light sabers, think Darth Vader is just a misunderstood guy with a troubled past or you simply think Yoda is cute in a kinky way.

Natural Curls at the Royal Show

February 3rd, 2009

Having a straight hair isn’t so bad, but I have always wondered how it feels having a curly hair. I even thought of perming my hair but since I never like keeping long hair and perming my short hair would make me look like Curly from the Three Stooges, I rather keep my hair and admire the curly bangs from afar. Then while I was surfing the internet, I came across some really natural curls presented at a show:

mangalitz3
Yeap, we are talking about curly-haired pigs or famously known as Mangalitzas (Mangalitsa) in the European countries. Also known as Mangalitsa, Mangulica, Mangalica or Mangaliza, Wollschwein (German), this huge and wooly boars are the ancient breed from the Hungary and Balkan areas.
